ResNet - Residential Network
ResNet is WSU's name for the "residential network". All residence halls
and some greek students use ResNet to connect to the WSU network and the
Internet. To gain access to ResNet, it is necessary to install the Cisco
Clean Access
(CCA) agent,
an application that detects operating system version, patch level, status
of anti-virus software and definitions.
Viruses
It is your responsibility as a user of the University’s network to keep
your computer secure and free of viruses. This includes keeping your
anti-virus software updated and performing regular anti-virus scans. If
you need an anti-virus program one can be found
here.
Additionally downloading the latest security patches for your computer
will prevent many viruses and hackers from compromising your computer.
Should your computer become infected your computer’s network connection
could be shut off until it can be cleaned and patched by our staff.
File Sharing
File sharing using applications like Kazaa and Aries are strictly
prohibited by the university. Should you use one of these applications
your network access will be shut off and you could be submitted to the
student conduct board and or law enforcement officials. This is a
serious issue which will not be tolerated. For more information please
visit
this site.

What should you do if you have been disconnected?
Once you have been disconnected from ResNet you will need to contact
the helpdesk by calling
5-HELP (509-335-4357) to notify us that you
have been disconnected. We will figure out why you have been
disconnected, and help you through the steps to get reconnected. If you
have a virus or are using file sharing programs you will have to bring
your computer to the NSS office to be cleaned. A fee
will apply for this service if we have to clean off viruses or file
sharing software and illegal files.
